Tags : None Well, last time we had a Gold Member was in November of 2008...so it's been brought to my attention that we need a new one. It's kinda hard to pick a notable member, WHEN YOU NEVER GET ANY NEW FUCKING MEMBERS. Thankfully my staff and I noticed one member who stood out for his exceptional exceptions. So if you look to the seldom-remarked sidebar, you'll see Baramos's name all over the place. Whether or not he had this award before is irrelevant. The fact is that Baramos is probably one of the best members we've had. He was here before I was and even when he pretends to have to leave, he still sticks around. Hell, he was even the cause of a new member--remember baramos bomus? Yeah, you can thank Archfiend Baramos for that legendary fella. I mean fuck, this guy's username comes from Dragon Warrior III. DRAGON WARRIOR III. You don't get cooler than that. Anyhow, here's an internet award for you, B-man. You can submit an emoticon and get another nother title.

Sheesh, I've been hinting at getting Golden Nu for years, then it happens and I don't know about it for a couple of days or whatever. I'm going to celebrate by never ever posting here ever again ever. EDIT: Also the DWIII manual artwork WAS pretty badass, especially in an era where Japanese games' Western art usually looked more like this: I'd actually be interested in learning who exactly was in charge of the artwork for Dragon Warrior III because it seemed to actually pay attention to the content of the game and not be completely psychotic: One of the Orbs from the game on a pile of shiny treasure/weaponry, and there's some dragon imagery. Seriously, as far as Western art for video games goes, that's like A+++. Also it makes sure to tell you you are buying an RPG (and explains what that is), and that it is the most advanced of its kind. WANT TO ROLL HIM AROUND A BIT? NO, NO, IT'S OKAY. [+] And look at how hellish the villains look! Man, there's a reason I've gone out of my way to preserve that box. Sadly all I have for Dragon Warrior I is the cartridge--which is still gorgeous. And here's DWIV for all you cool kids. [+] I'm not even gonna post the Toriyama nonsense, out of respect for the first four Dragon Warrior games.

When I was younger, that and the Final Fantasy I box art were exactly what I thought of when I played those kinds of games. Now we have all these fancy logos and weird character art, but those old NES box arts were perfect visual representations of RPGs, for me... Also, Baramos got an award and junk.

That's how awesome I am. Instead of the sword and axe it has the party of what looks like a black mage, red mage, fighter, and black belt standing on like some sort of floating rock inside the orb looking at Tiamat's castle, and then like, there's a sword sitting below that on some desert looking ground getting hit by a lightning bolt with some mountains in the background.
