I actually read a book today instead of watching anything. It was sort of not very good, but in a way, sort of good. I dunno. It's weird. It's called
Hawkes Harbor and apparently it was originally a Dark Shadows tie-in novel that got turned down and then turned into an original novel by S.E. Hinton for too
much sex near the end (sex which while titillating made me oddly depressed I wasn't getting the same treatment).
It's an adult novel by the way as evidenced by the soft-core sex scenes. But anyway it is seriously odd. Like it starts out as a pirate/gunrunning novel set in Asia for its first act, and then turns into a gothic horror novel for the second act, and then turns into a vaguely homoerotic buddy novel for the third act. I mean, it is seriously freaking weird. I have to give it kudos just for originality because seriously, this is an original plot, even if it is a mess.

lol yeah I saw that Neo Nazi documentary before too, Mav. I always wonder why people don't firebomb those fuckers. Fucking Nazis.
Anyway, I just re-watched Alien. A sublime film but I'm always reminded that Aliens switch-over to action did lead to the movie being much more watchable. I mean, I'd like to watch Aliens about once a month. Alien? Man, lucky if I watch that once in two years. Also, what was up with removing the cocoon scene where Dallas is entombed awaiting eventual chest-bursting and he asks Ripley to kill him? Seriously, the film needed that. Luckily similar scenes show up in the sequels but man, that was a freaking great scene. Plus it explained why there was no blood in the air vent. And Brett was in there too.

Man I loved Death Note's second opening. RARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHH!
Anyway, let me think, uhhhh...man, I think I actually watched a large part of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within because I happened to be taping it (yeah it's pretty crappy but I had it on VHS and didn't feel like buying the DVD on the off-chance I want to watch it, and uh, the VHS wouldn't copy onto a DVD either, so it's Cinemax all the way here). Kind of depressing since that movie has not aged well in the least. Oh, and I tried watching this re-run of Legend of the Seeker but it happened to be a FREAKING FLASHBACK EPISODE about everything that has happened thus far. Flashback episodes are the lamest things imaginable, and every time a show does one it's just another brick in the wall of shame. Heck, they could easily take this episode out of circulation because nothing happens and all the episodes are being re-run anyway, so if you happened to miss an episode, now is the time to see it, thus the flashback episode is completely pointless. Also Legend of the Seeker is pretty bad but seriously, besides like Breaking Bad and Dexter I think it's the only TV series I actually actively want to watch when it's on.
