Right, and to be fair, most careers that require or are based on any complex form of thought are gonna be set up in a way where you learn as you go.
If your career requires calculus often, they're not gonna expect you to know everything from day one: you'll spend a little time sitting and working,
and in time you'll pretty much be on par with where you're expected to be. Don't fret: take the classes, do your best, and everything will fall
together in time.

why does studying have to be about getting a career? why can't you enjoy what you're learning? get a part time job if you want to be more employable,
work experience is way more valuable to employers than a qualification.
philosophers go into management and the civil service anyway, they're prized for their ability to think clearly, argue in political debates and problem solve. someone has to not be stupid. |

You have a point Doan, experience is better than qualifications. But getting a job where you can get experience in the area you want to centre your career
around is difficult if you don't have prior experience in that area and no qualifications. Nobody's going to take you on as a database manager just
because you have five years experience as a sales assistant at a garden centre, y'know?

true, but there are admin voluntary jobs, and voluntary organisations pretty much take anyone. or do an apprenticeship.
i'm not the best to ask about careers, though, i don't actually have a job. i just know that you can't learn well if you don't care about your studies and you're only using your degree as a mercenary tool. |

So it's official, guys! I called the school yesterday, spoke with an admissions counselor, and had my major switched. For better or worse, I'm now a
Software Engineering major. =]

The Vampiric Angel wrote: lol I got a kick out of how they did that to that baby, that was hilarious! Plus they never fixed it, so he probably had it for the rest of his life! That was the coolest thing I ever saw in my psychology course and it almost made me want to switch my major right then and there. It would be awesome to ruin people's lives like that, before they even get started. Unfortunately I have to stick to ruining their high school years, which should also be pretty fun. So yeah you should be an education major, unless you enjoy life, in which case you would be better off shooting yourself than enrolling in an education major. EDIT: BTW TVA sleep-deprivation experiments in mice have brought us all sorts of advancements, like advanced plastics, advanced fire-proofing, advances in physics, satellite development, all sorts of stuff! Wait, I thought you said space travel. Well, carry on then. (STILL PRETTY AWESOME).
